Flood Management: Lowering of the Gatineau River level upstream of the Chelsea Dam

The Municipality of Chelsea wishes to inform its residents that Hydro-Quebec has lowered the water level upstream of the Chelsea dam to below 96 metres, 1.5 metres higher than the usual level.

Following the lifting of the boil water advisory earlier this morning, public works staff experienced a water supply problem in the west sector of the water system depriving some residents and businesses of water. Having been under minimum pressure for a few minutes, we are obliged to perform the water tests again and thus, to issue a precautionary boil water advisory.

Water samples are still being analyzed at the laboratory to ensure the quality of the water for consumption. Please be assured that the municipal staff is following the situation closely and that as soon as we have the results of the analysis we will inform the residents as soon as possible.
